Maasai Culture 🛖🇹🇿

On our way back from filming for @suricatasafaris in the @serengeti_national_park , we had the opportunity to meet a Maasai tribe and gain insight into their daily life.

The Maasai are a Nilotic ethnic group who primarily live in Tanzania and Kenya. 🇹🇿🇰🇪
Cattle herding, nomadism, pride, and warrior traditions are just part of their rich culture.
The Adumu dance, shown in the video, is characterized by a series of jumps performed by the dancers. They stand in a circle and take turns leaping into the air, keeping their bodies as straight and upright as possible. Young Maasai warriors typically perform this energetic and acrobatic dance during ceremonial occasions such as weddings, religious rites, and other important cultural events.

We had the privilege of attending such a ceremony and documenting it. The deep chants, the jumps, and the atmosphere are hard to put into words — so see for yourself!

Their work has even taken the film producers from Erftstadt, Malte Krause and Philipp Sterk, all the way to East Africa. “We shot in Tanzania,” says Krause. “We spent three weeks there working on a commercial,” adds Sterk. Hyenas, giraffes, and elephants were just some of the animals they captured on camera during that time. « 📰🗞️

Just wrapped filming the perfect sunset dinner at the stunning @suricatabomalodge , right on the edge of Lake Manyara – golden light, pure magic… and then suddenly: zebras. 🌅🦓

Out of nowhere, they crossed the background – and that was our cue. Together with our guide @gerald.erasto , we went on foot into the bush, step by step, adrenaline kicking in. 👣

The sound of crickets, the calls of birds, the crunch of dry branches underfoot… The atmosphere was unreal. No jeep. No barrier. Just us, the camera and the wild. 🦗🦜🎥

That moment when you hold your breath in silence and hear the snort of a zebra, just meters away… pure goosebumps.✨

On the trail of wilderness! 🐾

Together with our amazing guide @gerald.erasto , we followed the tracks of wildebeest and zebras along the stunning shores of Lake Manyara — starting right from @suricatabomalodge ! 🦓✨
Equipped with our trusted @sonycine & @sonyprofilmmaking gear powered with @bebobbatteries and of course our @djiglobal drone in the sky, we captured the raw beauty of the wild up close. What an unforgettable feeling to be right there, in the heart of nature! And only a footstep away from the Lodge… 🎥
The heat and exhaustion only hit us once we returned to the lodge — but it was so worth it. ☀️
